Legendia Śląskie Wesołe Miasteczko, the oldest amusement park in Poland, was opened in 1959 in Chorzów, within the Silesian Park, and operated under the name Śląskie Wesołe Miasteczko until 2016. Covering an area of approximately 26 hectares, the park has undergone numerous changes and modernizations, including a comprehensive renovation starting in 2017, when its name was changed to Legendia. The park's history dates back to 1956, when its construction began, and at its peak in 1970, it attracted as many as 2 million visitors annually. In 1985, the Ferris wheel Gwiazda Duża was installed on the park grounds, which is now known as Legendia Flower. In 2015, the park was acquired by Tatry Mountain Resorts, and the following year, plans were made to build the steel roller coaster Lech Coaster, which opened on July 1, 2017, and was recognized as the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in Poland. In 2018, the park added the attractive interactive attraction Bazyliszek, which won numerous prestigious awards, including the European Star Award. Another new addition was the water attraction Dolina Jagi, opened in 2020, which also gained recognition in the European attraction rankings. Legendia currently features 43 amusement facilities, including four roller coasters such as Diabelska Pętla and Lech Coaster, as well as a variety of water and family attractions. The park is divided into five thematic zones: Magical Village, Magical Forest, Valley of Dreams, Magical Mountains, and Adventures Valley, each offering guests a unique atmosphere. An interesting fact is that the park is home to the inactive Silesia Tower, which was the first structure of its kind in Poland but was shut down by the UDT (Office of Technical Inspection). As a historical and cultural site, Legendia continues to attract tourists, offering them unforgettable experiences and entertainment amidst the picturesque landscapes of Silesian Park.
