The Historical Museum in Legionowo, established in 2006, is an important municipal cultural institution. Its origins date back to the Historical Collections of the City of Legionowo, which have existed since 2001. The museum is housed in a stylish villa from the 1930s, and in 2008, a modern exhibition pavilion was opened. The villa featured an exhibition on the history of the city until September 2012, while the pavilion houses archaeological collections and an exhibition on the history of Legionowo from 1877 to 1990. The museum also has a branch called "Na Piaskach," which has been operating since 2012 and is located in a restored building of a Tsarist army casino from 1892. Among its permanent exhibitions, the museum offers a biographical exhibition dedicated to Alina and Czesław Centkiewicz, featuring valuable memorabilia from the polar explorers. The pavilion displays finds from a Lusatian culture burial site and the history of Legionowo, while the "Piaski" branch focuses on the presence of various military units, including the Tsarist army, the German army, and the Polish Army before World War II. The museum is open year-round, and its cultural activities contribute to the promotion of the history and heritage of Legionowo.
