Lipowa is a rural commune in the Silesian Voivodeship, within Żywiec County, with its administrative seat located in the village of Lipowa. The commune boasts a rich history dating back to the pre-war era when it operated as an independent municipality until July 31, 1934. Subsequently, as a result of an administrative reform, it was incorporated into the newly established commune of Zabłocie. During the German occupation, Lipowa was granted the status of a collective commune, and after the war, its original status within the Zabłocie commune was restored. Over the following years, a series of reforms led to the establishment of the Lipowa cluster in 1954 and the collective commune of Lipowa in 1973. The commune underwent numerous administrative changes, including returns to the Kraków Voivodeship and affiliation with the Bielsko Voivodeship between 1975 and 1998. Since January 1, 1999, Lipowa has once again been part of Żywiec County in the Silesian Voivodeship. In terms of land structure, the commune covers an area of 58.08 km², with a predominance of forest and agricultural land, highlighting its natural assets. Demographically, in 2004, the commune was home to 9,630 people, and its age structure and population changes are illustrated by an age pyramid. The commune cooperates with its partner city, Rakov, underscoring its openness to collaboration and cultural exchange. Thanks to its natural beauty and historical significance, Lipowa can be an interesting destination for tourists and history enthusiasts.
