Łochowo is a village located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the municipality of Białe Błota, situated 2.5 km from Bydgoszcz. Its history dates back to the 16th century, and the name of the locality has various meanings, including associations with pig farming and vegetation. Architecturally, it stands out with the Church of St. Casimir, built in 1902 from red brick, as well as numerous historical sites such as the "Łochowo" lock and the Catholic cemetery. The village is oriented toward residential and service development, enhancing its appeal as a suburban settlement. Culturally, Łochowo is vibrant—it is home to the Village Cultural Center, which runs the folk ensemble "Łochowianie." The locality is known for its sports clubs, such as KS "Łochowo," which maintains football and basketball sections. An interesting fact is that traces of human settlement in Łochowo date back to the Stone Age, and the village experienced significant growth after World War II, particularly from the 1990s onward, when suburbanization processes accelerated. Thanks to its proximity to Bydgoszcz and attractive natural surroundings, the population increased from 700 in 1970 to 3,414 in 2011. The village features bicycle paths and a kayak harbor, highlighting its recreational appeal. Łochowo also holds historical significance, having witnessed changing demographics, including a strong German presence until the outbreak of World War II, as well as the Nazi occupation, during which the Polish population faced repression. After the war, the village underwent intensive development, making it an interesting place from architectural, cultural, and historical perspectives.
