Łomianki is an urban-rural municipality located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the West Warsaw County, with its seat in the town of Łomianki, situated 14 km from the center of Warsaw. The municipality, comprising 9 village councils, is known for its beautiful floodplain areas in the old riverbed of the Vistula, where numerous lakes are located. Łomianki is characterized by diverse architecture, where modern residential buildings blend with traditional houses and public utility facilities. The municipality also holds significant historical importance; it was first established in 1951 in response to administrative changes concerning Warsaw. Between 1973 and 1998, the municipality underwent various reforms, and in 1992, its area was merged with the town of Łomianki, forming an urban-rural municipality. Education in Łomianki is well-developed, with numerous schools and kindergartens, as well as scientific institutions such as the Center for Ecological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Culture in Łomianki is vibrant; numerous festivals take place here, including the Days of Łomianki, as well as Terrace Comedy Meetings. Historical reenactments are organized annually, attracting the attention of residents and tourists. The municipality is home to four Roman Catholic parishes, and its religious tradition includes numerous events related to Catholicism. The town also has a rich local press resource, which helps keep residents informed about current events. The municipality borders Jabłonna, Czosnów, Izabelin, and Warsaw, contributing to its dynamic development.
