Lubochnia is a rural commune in the Łódź Voivodeship, located in the Tomaszów Mazowiecki County, with its administrative seat in Lubochnia. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, the commune belonged to the Piotrków Voivodeship. It includes, among others, Lubochnia Dworska, which from 2024 will become a separate village housing the commune office. The commune has quite rich traditions dating back to the Kingdom of Poland, where it was part of the Rawa County. In 2004, the commune had a population of 7,566. The commune is characterized by diverse land use, with 38% being agricultural land and 53% forested. It is located in the central part of Tomaszów Mazowiecki County, and its territory is crossed by the S8 expressway and national road No. 48. The Lubochenka River flows through the area, along with several nature reserves, including Gać Spalska, Kruszewiec, Małecz, and Starodrzew Lubochniański, which highlights the region's biodiversity. The commune's structure includes several sołectwas (village administrative divisions), such as Brenica, Dębniak, and Lubochnia Dworska. There are also several non-sołectwa settlements, including Albertów and Kruszewiec. The commune borders Budziszewice, Czerniewice, Inowłódz, and Tomaszów Mazowiecki, with its boundaries almost coinciding with those of Budziszewice and Czerniewice. The commune also features historical and customary place names, such as Bielawy or Eleonorów, although these are not officially recognized administratively. The honorary citizen of the commune is Jan Szczepański, underscoring local recognition for individuals contributing to the region's development and culture.
