Lubsko is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lubusz Voivodeship, within the Żary County, with its seat in the town of Lubsko. For many years, from 1975 to 1998, the municipality belonged to the Zielona Góra Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the municipality was inhabited by 19,439 people. Lubsko is characterized by rich natural assets, including two important nature reserves: Żurawno, which protects a fragment of a lowland forest ecosystem with rare species, and Mierkowskie Suche Bory, representing diverse coniferous forest ecosystems. The municipality covers an area of 182.69 km², of which 46% is agricultural land and 43% is forest. The municipality constitutes 13.11% of the county's area. The municipality includes many villages, such as Białków, Chełm Żarski, Dąbrowa, and Lutol, as well as smaller settlements like Gareja, Glinka Górna, and Nowiniec. The municipality borders other municipalities such as Bobrowice, Brody, Gubin, Jasień, Nowogród Bobrzański, and Tuplice. In terms of culture and history, the town is an example of a developing community that has preserved its local traditions. The municipality has the potential for further tourism development, especially in the areas of nature conservation and outdoor activities, making it an interesting place to visit and learn about the local ecosystem.
