wikipedia
The Museum of the Lubusz Land in Zielona Góra is a cultural institution that collects and preserves the material and spiritual heritage of the region located along the middle Oder River, known as the Lubusz Land. Its history dates back to 1908, when Albert Severin donated his collection related to urban traditions, and the museum was officially established in 1922. Initially housed in a chapel, it was later moved to a building that once served as a Frederician school. In 1945, after World War II, the museum was transformed into the City Museum, and from 1950 it became the Regional Museum. In 1959, the museum acquired the former County Office building, where it is currently located. In the 1960s, the museum underwent an organizational restructuring, including the establishment of thematic departments, which contributed to a significant expansion of its collections. In 1967, it was renamed the Museum of the Lubusz Land. In 1998, the museum came under the supervision of the Lubusz Voivodeship Board, which led to a programmatic reorientation toward local cultural heritage. Between 2019 and 2020, the museum underwent expansion, enabling the creation of new historical and contemporary art exhibitions. The museum's collections now comprise over 17,000 objects, including works of contemporary art, historical art, and exhibits related to the history of Zielona Góra and the region. Among the most valuable exhibits are works by renowned artists, such as "Girl with Sunflowers" by Olga Boznańska, and historical documents, such as the 1784 plan of Zielona Góra. The museum features numerous permanent exhibitions, including the Golden Grape Gallery and the Wine Museum. In 2007, the museum received the Honorary Badge "For Merit to the Lubusz Voivodeship." The Museum of the Lubusz Land is a key institution on the cultural map of the region, combining architectural, historical, and artistic values while contributing to the preservation of local cultural identity.
