wikipedia
ŁUKASIEWICZ – PORT is a Polish research institute based in Wrocław, established in 2019 as a result of the transformation of the company PORT (Polish Center for Technology Development). The history of the complex where it is located dates back to 1902, when it was built as a Municipal Care Home, later converted into an anti-tuberculosis hospital and sanatorium in the 1920s. At its peak, it served as barracks for the Red Army and an educational center, including an Agricultural School Complex. In 2007, the site was taken over by Wrocław Research Center EIT+, which was transformed into PORT in 2018 and later into ŁUKASIEWICZ – PORT. The institute conducts research in the fields of materials engineering and biotechnology, drawing inspiration from international research and development models. It comprises two scientific centers: the Materials Science & Engineering Center and the Life Science & Biotechnology Center, equipped with advanced apparatus and laboratory space. The team includes international experts, ensuring high research standards and participation in projects with domestic and foreign institutions. The institute also manages a Biobank, participates in projects with international corporations, and supports the development of tech startups. ŁUKASIEWICZ – PORT aims to strengthen collaboration between science and industry and engage in interdisciplinary research projects, making it a key innovation hub in Poland.
