The Lwówek Commune is an urban-rural municipality located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Nowy Tomyśl County, with its seat in the town of Lwówek. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Poznań Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 183.5 km², of which the town of Lwówek occupies just 3.1 km². According to data from June 30, 2004, the population was 9,136, and by the end of 2019, it had decreased to 9,089. The commune is situated in the northern part of Nowy Tomyśl County, near National Road 92, which connects Poznań with Świecko. The area is characterized by numerous forests and agricultural lands, which form a significant part of its landscape. Lwówek is surrounded by the communes of Kuślin, Miedzichowo, and Nowy Tomyśl, as well as the Międzychód and Szamotuły counties. Lwówek stands out for its rich landscape, including glacial troughs and the Lwówek-Rakoniewice Ridge, which hold ecological importance.
