Nowotomyski County, established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform, is located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, with its seat in Nowy Tomyśl. The county consists of the urban-rural municipalities: Lwówek, Nowy Tomyśl, Opalenica, Zbąszyń, and the rural municipalities: Kuślin and Miedzichowo. The demographic value of the county increased from 75,543 inhabitants in 2019 to 75,675 in 2020. This area is rich in natural attractions, with nature reserves such as the Bolesław Papi Reserve at Lake Zgierzynieckim, Wielki Las, and Urbanowo. There are also 23 manor parks, including the well-preserved 18th-century park in Posadowo. The county is characterized by the presence of 189 natural monuments, including magnificent oaks and linden trees. Olęder settlement, traces of which have been visible here since the 18th century, shaped the specificity of the local landscape, and such homesteads stand out for their thoughtful architecture. The region is known for the cultivation of hops and willow, which gained importance in the 19th century. The Museum of Wickerwork and Hop Growing in Nowy Tomyśl is a place that documents the rich traditions of this industry. Nowotomyski County is conducive to tourism thanks to its developed transport infrastructure, park trails for hiking and cycling, and a rich agritourism offer. It is also worth noting that numerous cultural events take place here, such as the Hop and Wicker Fair and the Bread Festival. The county is continuously developing its gastronomic and hotel infrastructure, which attracts tourists to explore the natural treasures of the region, such as lakes, forests, and reserves. Despite the low unemployment rate (1.9% in 2019), the local economy is largely based on traditional crops and tourism. The area borders many counties, which further increases its attractiveness.
