Łysomice is a rural commune located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Toruń County, with its seat in the town of Łysomice. Covering an area of 127.34 km², the commune is characterized by a significant share of agricultural land (69%) and forests (23%). Within its territory lies the Las Piwnicki Nature Reserve, which protects a natural forest community with numerous old-growth trees. Local development includes various enterprises, among them Japanese manufacturing plants, as well as per capita tax revenues that are the highest in the region. Łysomice is home to historical monuments such as 13th/14th-century churches in Gostkowo and Papowo Toruńskie, a palace park in Ostaszewo, and a palace complex in Turzno. The commune boasts a rich cultural and historical character, with visible influences of sacred and residential architecture from the 19th century. An interesting fact is the astronomical observatory in Piwnice, which features a 32-meter diameter radio telescope.
