wikipedia
Małobądz is a district of Będzin, located in the southwestern part of the city, covering an area of 295 hectares. It is primarily characterized by single-family housing, with the Syberka housing estate in its northern part, which began developing after World War II. Between 1978 and 1988, the modern Mining Hospital, now the Saint Barbara Provincial Specialist Hospital No. 5, was built in Małobądz. This changed the administrative boundaries, as part of the land was transferred to Sosnowiec. The history of Małobądz dates back to the 15th century, with the first records from 1443. The name of the village has various origins: it may derive from the Old Polish name Małobąd or be related to the concept of "being." Małobądz was an independent village until 1915 when it was incorporated into Będzin. In the Middle Ages, the locality was known for its fertile lands and fishing, and it also had a mill and an inn. The village often suffered from disasters such as fires or floods but quickly rebuilt thanks to the efforts of its owners. By the 19th century, Małobądz had developed infrastructure, including mills and an oil press. Despite this, after the partitions of Poland, it found itself under Russian rule. In 1913, the construction of a power plant began, which remains operational to this day. After World War II, changes in the course of the Czarna Przemsza River and the construction of a highway led to the loss of the district's original character. Interestingly, in 1951, part of Małobądz was incorporated into Czeladź, altering its administrative boundaries. Despite these transformations, Małobądz retains its unique features as a district of Będzin and a testament to the rich history of the region.
