wikipedia
The Zarybie Manor, built between 1930 and 1933 according to the design of Juliusz Dzierżanowski on the commission of Janusz Regulski, is located in the town of Żółwin, near Podkowa Leśna. It was created as a result of the reconstruction of two small houses, and after the expansion of two morgens, the manor's grounds grew to 40 hectares. Architecturally, it represents the Baroque-Classicist style, with a two-story structure, an eight-column Ionic portico, and a characteristic terrace featuring the Regulski family coat of arms, Ciołek. The interiors are double-tracked, with a large hall and a staircase. The garden was designed by engineer Leon Danielewicz, resembling French gardens with symmetrical lawns and a rose arbor. During World War II, the manor was transformed by Halina Regulska into a boarding house that supported the Polish resistance movement. It provided shelter for displaced scientists from the University of Poznań and individuals associated with the underground, including Zofia Korbońska, Stefan Korboński, Jerzy Iłłakowicz, and Czesław Miłosz. After the war, in 1959, due to communist repression, Zarybie was sold, and the Regulski family moved to Warsaw. Today, the manor is well-preserved and serves as a seminary for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The significance of Zarybie, both in historical and architectural contexts, makes it an important site associated with Polish culture and 20th-century history. Interestingly, the manor became one of the centers of conspiracy during the war, highlighting its role in Polish national life during a difficult period.
