Rączna is a village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in the commune of Liszki, known for its rich Catholic traditions and numerous chapels and places of worship. The inhabitants of this village belong to the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, established in 1986. Rączna is home to ten chapels, including the 19th-century "Sobieski" chapel, commemorating the stop of the troops of John III Sobieski. Additionally, the village has a 19th-century cholera cemetery, a testament to historical epidemics. The name "Rączna" may derive from a nearby stream or refer to the manual labor of the residents, known for their wicker products. Rączna has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages when it was a Benedictine settlement. The first mentions of the village come from 1393. The village went through various stages of development, including the period of partitions, during which the inhabitants had to struggle with economic and wartime difficulties. In the 19th century, the production of wicker baskets developed, which was crucial for the local economy. In recent years, Rączna has become a venue for cultural events, such as family festivals and harvest festivals, engaging the local community. In 2016, the Cracovia Training Center was established in Rączna, contributing to the development of sports infrastructure. The village is also well-connected to Kraków, with available bus lines and proximity to Balice Airport. Rączna, with its traditions, sacral architecture, and community involvement, is an interesting example of a Polish village combining history, culture, and sports.
