Maszewo Municipality, located in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Goleniów County on the Nowogard Plain, is an urban-rural municipality with its seat in the town of Maszewo. The municipality covers 13% of the county's area and, according to 2016 data, is inhabited by approximately 8,807 residents. Until 1998, the municipality was part of the Szczecin Voivodeship. Maszewo is neighbored by the municipalities of Goleniów, Osina, Nowogard, Dobra, Chociwel, Stara Dąbrowa, and Stargard. The municipality boasts significant natural assets—forests cover 17% of its area, while agricultural land accounts for 74%. Wooded areas are found in the northwestern part, despite its proximity to the Goleniowska Primeval Forest. The area features clean lakes, including the largest, Lake Lechickie, as well as numerous agricultural lands. The municipality has a well-developed road network with provincial roads; however, the railway connection, which had existed since 1903, was closed in 1992. In 2016, the municipal budget expenditures amounted to PLN 31.4 million, with revenues of PLN 33.3 million. One post office operates within the municipality. The area comprises 21 village administrations (sołectwa) and several settlements and colonies. Maszewo Municipality is demographically diverse—in 2007, it was home to 10.5% of the county's population. From an architectural perspective, the municipality boasts numerous historical landmarks, though specific details about its architecture are not included in the documentation. It also has tourism potential, thanks to institutions that can attract visitors with its rich flora and fauna, as well as access to picturesque, pristine lakes. Interestingly, Maszewo builds its identity around local agricultural traditions, which form an integral part of its culture.
