Meadow

Łąka is a village located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the municipality of Trzebownisko, known for its rich history, architecture, and cultural activities of its residents. The village has undergone numerous administrative changes; from 1975 to 1998, it was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship. Łąka is the seat of the Parish of St. Onuphrius, highlighting its religious and cultural significance. Historical records show that the village was originally known as Łanka, a name referring to the numerous meadows that once surrounded the area. In the past, King Casimir the Great maintained a horse stud farm here. Over the centuries, Łąka was repeatedly attacked by Tatars and Cossacks, which significantly influenced its development and history. The village also played an important role during World War II and faced local natural disasters, such as floods and fires, which impacted its structure and population. The architectural heritage of Łąka is particularly notable for its three churches, the oldest of which dates back to 1409. Currently, the late Baroque-style Church of St. Onuphrius, with its five altars, stands as one of the most important monuments. Another significant landmark is the Lubomirski Palace, which served various functions over the years, including as an orphanage for girls. Today, Łąka is a dynamic and modernized village, offering various institutions such as a school, a volunteer fire department (OSP), and the telecommunications cooperative "WIST," providing residents with access to modern services. The village is also home to the "Wszyscy Razem" Association and a local sports club, both actively engaging the community. Cultural activities thrive in Łąka, with local crafts and entrepreneurship reflected in establishments like print shops and bakeries. The presence of a wastewater treatment plant serving surrounding villages underscores the focus on infrastructure and environmental care. With its rich historical heritage and modern approach to development, Łąka stands as an interesting example of rural settlement in Poland.
