wikipedia
The Mięguszowieckie Szczyty, also known as Mengusovské štíty, are a group of three prominent mountain peaks located on the Polish-Slovak border, within the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains. The highest of these, Mięguszowiecki Szczyt, reaches an elevation of 2,438 meters and is the second-highest peak in Poland. This area is popular among tourists and climbers, and its name derives from the village of Mięguszowce in the Spiš region at the foot of the Tatras. The massif features complex topography, including the Czarnostawiańska and Hińczowa passes, as well as several distinct summits, each with its own unique characteristics. Key terrain features include the face of Kazalnica Mięguszowiecka, considered one of the most challenging rock faces in the Polish Tatras, and striking mountain sculptures. The area around the Mięguszowieckie Szczyty is home to many rare plant species, such as alpine rock-thyme (Artemisia petrosa) and one-flowered sandwort (Minuartia sedoides), which are unique to this region. Below Morskie Oko lies the scree slope of Bańdziocha, also known as the Mięguszowiecki Kocioł (Cauldron), which hosts the largest permanent snowfield in the Tatra Mountains. Popular hiking trails in the vicinity can be dangerous, especially under adverse weather conditions. Ascending the Mięguszowiecka Przełęcz pod Chłopkiem (Mięguszowiecki Pass below Chłopek) does not require significant technical skill from the Slovak side, although the Polish route is more demanding, offering thrilling views and challenges. The peaks are protected within the Tatra National Park, and their touristic significance makes them a popular destination for hikers and climbers. The Mięguszowieckie Szczyty are not only a landscape of great natural beauty but also hold cultural importance, representing a key element of Tatra tradition and mountaineering history in Poland.
