wikipedia
The Miłosław Palace, located in the southern part of the town in the Września County, is a historic monument in the Neorenaissance style, with a history dating back to the first decade of the 19th century. It was designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel as a villa, also known as a casino or a pavilion. Between 1843 and 1844, it was expanded with two garden wings and a tower, designed by Seweryn Mielżyński. Further renovations took place from 1895 to 1899, when new wings and an impressive portico were added to the front facade. The owners, the Mielżyński family and later the Kościelski family, maintained the concept of an "open house," hosting many renowned artists and writers, such as Wincenty Pol, Henryk Sienkiewicz, and Władysław Reymont. In 1882, a museum with an art gallery was opened in the palace, showcasing paintings collected by the Mielżyńskis, which were later donated to the Poznań Society of Friends of Sciences. Unfortunately, the palace was destroyed in 1945 by German Nazis and rebuilt in the 1960s, though only the external Neoclassical appearance was restored. After the war, the building served various public institutions and currently houses the Juliusz Słowacki Middle School. The Miłosław Palace is an example of the harmonious integration of architecture, culture, and history, with a rich past and significant importance to the local community.
