wikipedia
The Michałów Commune, located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in the Pińczów County, was established on January 1, 1973, transforming the existing Michałów Cluster that had been in place since 1954. The seat of the commune is the town of Michałów. The commune covers an area of 112 km², of which 70% is agricultural land and 18% is forested. In 2021, it was inhabited by 4,460 people. The region is characterized by a microclimate favorable for breeding purebred Arabian horses, which is why Michałów is home to the famous Arabian Horse Stud, established in 1953. Another significant architectural feature is the manor complex of the Dembiński family in Góry, with its historical connection to Ignacy Dembiński, a deputy to the Four-Year Sejm. In Węchadłów, visitors can see an abandoned manor complex with the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from 1927 and an Arian church from 1559. The commune is also a place of remembrance related to World War II, including graves of victims and monuments commemorating villagers associated with the resistance movement. Michałów is not only an area rich in history but also in culture, with three parishes and numerous primary schools. Among the notable figures associated with the region is Ignacy Jaworowski, the founder of the stud farm, as well as many local heroes. The commune borders Działoszyce, Imielno, Pińczów, and Wodzisław, making it a regionally significant area. Mayors of Michałów, such as Wiesława Łach and Mirosław Walasek, have contributed to the development of the local community.
