Miechów

Miechów Municipality, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship within Miechów County, boasts a rich history, with its seat in the town of Miechów. For many years, from 1975 to 1998, the municipality was part of the Kielce Voivodeship. The area of the municipality covers 148.4 km², of which 88% is agricultural land and 5% is forested. Miechów Municipality constitutes 21.93% of the entire county's area. In 2004, the population of the municipality was 19,949, and its demographic structure, illustrated by an age pyramid, undoubtedly underwent changes in subsequent years. The municipality is surrounded by neighboring municipalities such as Charsznica, Gołcza, Książ Wielki, Racławice, Radziemice, Słaboszów, and Słomniki. In the religious sphere, the Roman Catholic Church dominates with five parishes, and there are also two congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses. Miechów Municipality can boast numerous villages, including Biskupice, Bukowska Wola, Dziewięcioły, and Kalina Mała, reflecting the region's settlement diversity. Historically, Miechów is known for traditions related to religious and neighborly agreements, and its architecture, typical of Lesser Poland towns, combines Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements.
