wikipedia
The Municipality of Miedźno, located in the northern part of the Silesian Voivodeship on the Wieluń Upland, is characterized by extensive agricultural lands (52% of the area) and forests (42%). Its history dates back to the Middle Ages and is closely tied to the Jagiellonian dynasty and the struggles for independence, including the January Uprising. The municipality boasts rich cultural traditions, reflected in its local monuments such as the 19th-century Parish Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, the wooden church in Mokra from 1708, and the cemetery chapel from 1840, where Governor Ignacy Miączyński is buried. Mokra is home to the Museum of the Przeworsk Culture and the Memorial Chamber of the Battle of Mokra, which houses exhibits related to September 1939. The municipality is served by three School and Kindergarten Complexes, and its local villages and settlements, such as Borowa, Władysławów, and Gajówka Sudół, attest to its rich social structure. A tourist attraction is the Oksza Reservoir in Ostrowy, which serves as a recreational site, along with an educational trail promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the region. It is also worth noting the annual patriotic ceremonies in Mokra, commemorating the battle that took place in September 1939. The municipal coat of arms, adopted in 2006, depicts St. Catherine of Alexandria, referencing the royal character of the locality and its historical roots. The mayors of the municipality since 1990 have included Kazimierz Golba, Andrzej Szczypiór, and the current mayor, Piotr Derejczyk. Thanks to its history, culture, and beautiful landscapes, the Municipality of Miedźno is an interesting area for both residents and tourists.
