wikipedia
Miedzna Murowana is a village located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Opoczno County, within the administrative district of Żarnów. It is known for its rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was a ducal village. In 1451, it was granted German town law and remained in the hands of the Dunin family until the partitions of Poland. Interestingly, in 1794, the village was almost completely destroyed as a result of military actions. Architecturally, it is distinguished by the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built between 1981 and 1984, which serves as an important center of religious life for the local community. The inhabitants of Miedzna Murowana, who were historically involved in flax cultivation and animal husbandry, now face issues such as unemployment and the search for sustainable livelihoods. The village also features four shrines and a reservoir covering an area of 185 hectares, created between 1974 and 1979, which serves both water retention purposes and as a recreational area. From a cultural perspective, Miedzna Murowana has its own legends, including a tale about an inn where people went for drinking instead of attending church, ultimately leading to a curse being placed by a priest. Today, the village is home to a community of 557 residents, with active initiatives such as the Volunteer Fire Department and a scouting base that hosts scouting events and sobriety forums. Local traditions, as well as the history of the village, continue to shape the lives of its inhabitants, creating a unique atmosphere and strong social bonds.
