Milejewo is a rural municipality in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, within Elbląg County, with its administrative seat located in the village of the same name. From 1975 to 1998, the municipality was part of the Elbląg Voivodeship. It consists of 13 village councils (sołectwa) and, according to data from the end of 2019, has a population of 3,419. It is situated on the Elbląg Upland, in its highest region, with Silver Mountain (Srebrna Góra, 198.5 m above sea level) as its prominent peak. The municipality covers an area of 95.55 km², of which 66% is agricultural land and 25% is forested. It is characterized by a high forest coverage rate of 27.4%, contributing to its rich natural environment. The area includes the Elbląg Upland Landscape Park and the Pióropusznikowy Jar Nature Reserve, as well as 9 natural monuments. Demographically, the average age of residents is 38, with a slight majority of men (50.9%). In terms of economy, micro-enterprises dominate; in 2017, 15 commercial companies and 4 civil partnerships were registered. The average gross salary was PLN 3,446.29, and the registered unemployment rate was 13.1%. A portion of the population is actively employed in the agricultural sector (32.2%) and the industrial/construction sector (35.7%). Milejewo has one kindergarten, primary school, and middle school (gimnazjum), and the educational attainment of residents is varied, with 9.5% holding higher education degrees. In terms of infrastructure, a national road runs through the municipality, and urban transport to Elbląg is provided by buses. Architecturally, the municipality is rich in heritage sites; in Huta Żuławska, there are arcaded houses and barns, while Milejewo features a church dedicated to St. Stanislaus. Ogrodniki stands out with its Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The municipality borders Elbląg, Młynary, Pasłęk, and Tolkmicko, making it an important point in the region. It is worth adding that Milejewo and its surroundings are a place where history and nature coexist, making it an attractive destination for both residents and tourists.
