wikipedia
Minikowo, known between 1942 and 1945 as Minchau, is a picturesque village in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, located on Lake Minikowskie, in the western part of the Lubiewo municipality. It is characterized by hilly terrain and three ribbon lakes. From 1975 to 1998, it was administratively part of the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship. The village has a fragmented layout, with a central settlement and surrounding hamlets such as Boryny I, Gapie Góry, Rabuśkowo, and Gdynia—a new housing estate of the Zamrzenica Forest District. Among the investments carried out in recent years are the construction of a church and the modernization of the fire station and community center. From a historical perspective, the village has belonged to the Benedictine nuns since 1602. Over the years, it has served as a community where various organizations were established, such as the Volunteer Fire Department, formed in 1890 and reactivated after World War II, as well as the Rural Housewives' Circle, created in 1946. Minikowo experienced population aging, with a significant decline in residents after World War II. However, there is now growing interest in settling here, especially among city dwellers, which is fostering the development of agritourism. An architectural curiosity is a traditional wooden house with elements of regional style. The village landscape is dominated by clean air and rich flora and fauna, including a natural monument—a pine tree of the "kołnierzykowata" variety—and diverse bird species. Minikowo attracts nature and tourism enthusiasts, as well as mushroom pickers and those seeking tranquility in a natural setting. The locality is expanding its agritourism offerings, providing opportunities for relaxation in local farms and inns.
