Mircze is a rural commune located in the Lublin Voivodeship, in the Hrubieszów County, with its seat in the village of Mircze. From 1975 to 1998, the commune belonged to the Zamość Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the commune had 7,868 inhabitants, and by December 31, 2017, this number had decreased to 7,273. The commune covers an area of 233.82 km², of which 81% is agricultural land and 13% is forested, making it an important agricultural area in the region. The Mircze Commune constitutes 18.42% of the area of Hrubieszów County. The commune includes many villages, such as Kryłów, Łasków, and Tuczapy, as well as settlements without village status, like Nowe Szychowice. It borders communes such as Dołhobyczów, Hrubieszów, Łaszczów, Telatyn, Tyszowce, and Werbkowice, as well as Ukraine, where the town of Novovolynsk lies near the border. From a cultural perspective, the Mircze Commune boasts a diversity of local traditions and rituals related to the cycle of life. The history of the commune is linked to the rich cultural heritage of the Lublin region, which has been shaped over the centuries by both Polish and Ukrainian influences.
