Wiszniów is a village in the Lublin Voivodeship, in the Hrubieszów County, serving as the seat of the Roman Catholic parish of St. Stanislaus. It is situated on the Bukowa River and is characterized by its agricultural and orchard farming traditions. The area bears traces of Neolithic settlement, and the first written records of Wiszniów date back to 1396. Over the centuries, the village frequently changed owners, including Mikołaj Mnich and the Kiełczewski family, who had a notable influence on local life. During the 18th and 19th centuries, Wiszniów developed significantly, boasting schools and an active Volunteer Fire Department established in 1966. The village is home to a historic church dedicated to St. Stanislaus, which was formerly an Orthodox church, as well as a former school building from the late 19th century. The wooden church plays an important role in the local community, and adjacent to it lies a historic cemetery. Wiszniów hosts various cultural events such as Harvest Festivals (Dożynki), Wiszniów Day, and farmers' gatherings. In recent years, the village has faced numerous challenges, including war-related damage, yet its residents remain committed to its development and the preservation of traditions.
