Mochowo Commune, located in the Masovian Voivodeship and Sierpc County, is a rural municipality whose history dates back many years. Administratively reorganized in 1975, it was part of the Płock Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. The seat of the commune is the town of Mochowo. With a population of 6,309 as of June 2004, the commune covers an area of 143.57 km², predominantly agricultural land (79%) and forests (14%). It constitutes 16.83% of the county's area. In terms of culture, the commune offers residents access to the Municipal Public Library and the Municipal Social Welfare Center, which contributes to social integration. Education in the commune is provided by primary schools, including the Jan Pawel II Primary School in Mochowo and facilities in Bożewo and Ligowo, as well as the General Edward Żółtowski Middle School. The commune consists of numerous village administrations (sołectws), including Adamowo, Bożewo, Ligowo, and many others, reflecting its diverse local structure. An interesting fact is the area's rich history and the variety of rural landscapes, which support the development of agritourism. The commune borders other municipalities, such as Brudzeń Duży and Sierpc, enabling socio-cultural cooperation.
