Sierpecki County, located in the northwestern part of the Masovian Voivodeship, has its seat in the town of Sierpc. It consists of 7 municipalities, including one urban municipality (Sierpc) and six rural municipalities (Gozdowo, Mochowo, Rościszewo, Sierpc, Szczutowo, Zawidz). The county is characterized by a declining population, which in 2014 was 53,228 inhabitants, and by June 30, 2020, it had decreased to 51,744 people. The population density in 2014 was 62 inhabitants per km². The county is surrounded by neighboring counties: żuromiński, płoński, płocki, and two Kuyavian-Pomeranian counties: lipnowski and rypiński.
