Modertrans Poznań is a subsidiary of the Municipal Transport Company (Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne), established in 2005 through the merger of the Bus Repair Plant in Biskupice and the Tram Repair Division of MPK Poznań. The company specializes in the production, modernization, and servicing of rail vehicles and buses. In its first year of operation, the company reported a loss, but since 2010, its profits have consistently grown, reaching a record value of over PLN 13 million in 2015. Modertrans stands out for its innovation, as evidenced by numerous awards, including the Eng. Ernest Malinowski Award for the MT-01H drive bogie in 2007 and the Prof. Jan Podoski Award for the Moderus Gamma LF 01 AC tram in 2017. The company has also become a significant player in the European market, showcasing its achievements at trade fairs such as InnoTrans in Berlin. Interestingly, in 2021, the company unveiled Poland's first fully low-floor, single-unit tram. Modertrans contributes to the development of urban transport and, through collaboration with universities, engages in research projects, highlighting its growing importance in the industry.
