wikipedia
Mogielica, the highest peak of the Beskid Wyspowy Mountains (1170.2 m), has been attracting tourists for years. A viewing tower located here has increased its popularity. The massif, covered with spruce and fir forests, provides a unique environment for many rare species of birds and mammals, and its microclimate favors skiing tourism. The region also features the Mogielica Cross-Country Skiing Trail, the longest in Lesser Poland, stretching 23 km. Local culture is deeply rooted in legends, including tales of the wife of the giant Łopień and hidden treasures of bandits, associated with the figure of Józef Baczyński. This place has a rich history; in the 15th century, Mogielica was mentioned in the context of royal estates, and in the 20th century, a wooden triangulation tower stood here. During World War II, the Stumorgowa clearing served as a drop point for partisans. Today, Mogielica is an important hub of tourist trails, including the papal trail commemorating the hikes of John Paul II, and an attraction for hiking and skiing enthusiasts.
