Dobra is a rural commune in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within the Limanowa County, with its seat located in the village of Dobra. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune belonged to the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship. It covers an area of 109.05 km², dominated by forest land (47%) and agricultural land (46%). In 2004, the commune had a population of 9,337, which increased to 9,983 by 2019. The commune consists of 11 village districts (sołectwa), including Chyszówki, Gruszowiec, and Jurków.
In terms of transportation, the national road 28 and several county roads run through the area, ensuring good access to nearby towns. The religiosity of the inhabitants is reflected in the presence of numerous parishes and churches, such as the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Scapular in Dobra and chapels in individual village districts like Chyszówki and Wilczyce.
Ethnographically, the residents of the commune belong to the Góral-Zagórzanie and Lachy groups, which influence local traditions and the culture of the region. Dobra is situated in the Beskid Wyspowy mountain range, with the Łososina River as its main watercourse, giving it a charming, mountainous character. The area is rich in history and monuments that attract tourists.
