The Centre for Heritage Interpretation, located at 11/13 Brzozowa Street in Warsaw, is a branch of the Museum of Warsaw focused on the history of the reconstruction of the Old Town after World War II. The institution was inaugurated on January 24, 2013, and is housed in a revitalized cellar whose architecture reflects the heritage of the Old Town. The permanent exhibition allows visitors to explore the processes of destruction and reconstruction of Warsaw’s historic center, highlighting the significance of these events for the city’s cultural identity. The Centre also serves as an important meeting place, hosting lectures on the history and architecture of the capital, as well as events related to the Cultural Cellars Route of the Old Town. The initiative was established through cooperation with the city of Bergen and funding from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, serving as an example of international collaboration in the protection of cultural heritage. Through its broad range of activities, the Centre not only contributes to public education but also enriches Warsaw’s cultural offerings, encouraging both residents and tourists to explore the city’s rich history.
