wikipedia
Mosina is a town in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, located 22 kilometers south of Poznań, with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. First mentioned in 1247, Mosina was granted town rights in 1429 under the guardianship of the Kalisz voivode, Mikołaj Przedpełkowic. The town is known for its centuries-old traditions and connections with noble families, and its history is marked by dramatic events, particularly during World War II, when its residents faced repression under German occupation. In 1848, it served as the seat of the Republic of Mosina, and the Red Army captured the town on January 25, 1945. Architecturally, it stands out with its medieval market square and 19th-century urban buildings. Among its tourist attractions are the Church of St. Nicholas, built between 1953 and 1954, a municipal gallery housed in the former synagogue, and the "Elegant of Mosina" monument. The town is surrounded by the picturesque landscapes of the Wielkopolski National Park and the Rogalin Landscape Park, making it an appealing destination for tourists. An interesting initiative is the free city bike project, launched in September 2021, which places Mosina among Poland's innovative towns. In terms of education, Mosina offers numerous kindergartens and primary schools, while its sports scene is vibrant with active football and handball clubs. The town also boasts a strong cultural identity, reflected in local publications such as "Gazeta Mosińsko-Puszczykowska" and "Fakty Mosińsko-Puszczykowskie." Additionally, it engages in partnerships with towns like Seelze in Germany and the municipality of Witnica in Poland, fostering cultural and social exchange.
