The Florian Krygier Municipal Stadium in Szczecin, located in the Pogodno district, is a modern sports facility with a rich history dating back to 1914, when a playing field was built on the site of a disused gravel pit. In 1925, the stadium was opened, initially named Rühl Kampfbahn and serving the Stettiner Turn Verein club. In the 1950s, it became the property of MKS Pogoń Szczecin, and after 1989, it was taken over by the City of Szczecin. A unique feature of the venue is the absence of standing areas and the presence of benches typical of earlier years instead of individual seats. In 2004, the stadium was named after Florian Krygier, a legendary football player. Before the renovation, the stadium could accommodate 18,027 spectators, while after modernization, its capacity increased to 21,163 seats. The facility underwent a comprehensive reconstruction between 2019 and 2022, which involved the use of four stands and the creation of a modern Youth Training Center. The stadium, adapted for disabled persons, features numerous catering points and press facilities. A remarkable aspect of the construction was the need to dismantle the old stands, which revealed unexpected historical remnants, including shelter tunnels. The stadium has hosted many important sporting events, including matches of the Polish national football team, and its fans passionately support Pogoń Szczecin, known for the loud "Piekiełko" sector. The stadium has also hosted the Polish Athletics Championships and other significant sporting events. With a roof area of 17,638 m² and lighting with a maximum intensity of 2430 lx, the facility has become one of the most modern stadiums in Poland. Its cultural significance for the region, the blend of local traditions with modernity, and the support for young talents through the new Training Center make it a key point on the sports map of Szczecin.
