wikipedia
The Museum of Post and Telecommunications in Wrocław, established on January 25, 1921, in Warsaw, is one of only two institutions in Poland—alongside the Museum of Polish Post in Gdańsk—that document the history of postal services, telecommunications, and telegraphy on Polish lands. After being relocated to Wrocław in 1956, it is housed in the historic Main Post Office building at 1 Zygmunt Krasiński Street. The museum boasts interdisciplinary collections related to the history of the Polish postal system, including documents, postage stamps, paintings, photographs, medals, and unique exhibits such as postal stagecoaches and various telecommunications devices. From 1921 to 1998, it operated as a ministerial institution, and since 1999, it has been subordinate to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship local government. Under the leadership of renowned directors, including Jadwiga Bartków-Domagała and Agnieszka Dziedzic, the museum maintains five permanent exhibitions showcasing, among other things, the history of the Polish postal service and the development of telecommunications. A notable feature is its extensive specialized library and collections of postal utensils and uniforms. Since 1988, the museum has been a member of ICOM and IATM, underscoring its significance in the international museum community. As a cultural institution, it not only collects exhibits but also contributes to popularizing knowledge about the history of communication in Poland.
