Museum of the History of the Polish People's Movement

The Museum of the History of the Polish People's Movement, located in Warsaw's Mokotów district in a building known as the Yellow Inn (Żółta Karczma), is an institution that since 1984 has been collecting memorabilia related to the history of Polish peasants and the people's movement. The villa housing the museum was built between 1852 and 1853 according to a design by Franciszek Maria Lanci, showcasing the architecture of the era, which adds historical value to the entire institution. The museum boasts a rich collection that illustrates the activities of peasant parties and rural cultural and educational associations. Among the most valuable exhibits are memorabilia related to key figures of the people's movement, such as Izydor Mermon, Stefan Pawłowski, and Wincenty Witos, as well as documents concerning the Polish People's Party in exile. In the museum's garden, visitors can see sculptures depicting activists of the people's movement, highlighting the cultural significance of this institution. Since its establishment, directors such as Józef Fajkowski and Janusz Gmitruk have contributed to its development and promotion. The museum also has two branches in Sandomierz and Piaseczno, which extends its reach and underscores the importance of folk themes in the context of Polish culture and history.
