wikipedia
Mokotów is one of the districts of Warsaw, located on the left bank of the Vistula River and the most populous in terms of residents. Its name comes from the probable owner of the village, Mokot. Mokotów, whose history dates back to 1367, was incorporated into Warsaw in 1916. The district stands out for its abundance of greenery and parks, with the most famous being Pole Mokotowskie, as well as numerous bodies of water, including Lake Czerniakowskie, which is the largest natural reservoir in the capital. Architecturally, Mokotów combines various styles—from villas housing embassies to housing estates made of prefabricated blocks. In the southwest, there is Służewiec Przemysłowy, an office district that has developed significantly since 2016. Interestingly, there is no town hall building—the district administration operates from several scattered locations. Mokotów is also characterized by well-developed transportation, with the M1 metro line and a tram depot. Among its notable institutions are the Warsaw School of Economics, Polish Radio, and the Nowy Theatre. The district has a rich cultural infrastructure, including the Documentary and Feature Film Studio and the Galeria Mokotów shopping center. Mokotów comprises many smaller areas, such as Stary Mokotów and Sadyba, highlighting its diversity. Despite its varied architecture, Mokotów is one of the least destroyed districts from World War II and enjoys great interest from both residents and tourists.
