wikipedia
The Wiktor Stachowiak Museum of the Noteć Land, located in the historic Mayor's House (Burmistrzówka) in Trzcianka, plays a key role in preserving local history and culture. Founded in 1924 by Pastor Ryszard Hessler and Professor Carl Schulz, it was initially housed in the building of the School Complex. After World War II, many of its collections were dispersed; however, Wiktor Stachowiak, the first post-war curator, contributed to the reactivation of the museum in 1958, an event of exceptional importance. After his death in 1964, the museum was named in his honor. The museum's exhibition comprises over 25,000 items divided into various sections: archaeological, historical, ethnographic, numismatic, artistic, and educational. The archaeological collections date back to prehistoric times, featuring tools and artifacts illustrating the lives of the area's early inhabitants. The historical section includes documents and memorabilia related to the region's history, including postcards from the early 20th century. The museum also showcases traditional craftsmen's tools, preserving ethnographic traditions. Of particular note are the unique 13th-century bracteates in the numismatic collection, as well as various pieces of furniture and graphic works in the art section. With its historic interiors, the museum not only collects but also promotes local history and culture, making it an important institution among museums in Poland.
