wikipedia
Trzcianka, formerly known as Schönlanke, is a town in western Poland located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. It was granted town rights on March 3, 1731. The town serves as the capital of the Czarnków-Trzcianka County, and its center is graced by the Trzcianka River and several lakes, which contribute to the development of tourism. Trzcianka is renowned for the beautiful landscapes of the Wałcz Lake District, as well as its rich vegetation and diverse fauna. Among its architectural landmarks are the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist from the early 20th century, an Art Nouveau villa from 1905, and an 18th-century palace park. The town is a well-known cultural hub, hosting events such as the Days of Trzcianka and Midsummer Night celebrations. The Youth Cultural Center and the Trzcianka Cultural Center organize numerous artistic and educational activities. The Museum of the Noteć River Land, which collects local artifacts and organizes exhibitions, also operates in Trzcianka. Historically, the town was a site of intensive settlement, particularly in the 18th century, and became an important center for the textile industry. During World War II, Trzcianka was incorporated into the Third Reich, and after the war, it returned to Poland, which significantly altered its demographics. Today, Trzcianka is dynamically developing, with a focus on the aluminum industry and commercial services. The town offers a wide range of educational opportunities, including numerous primary and secondary schools, as well as a branch of a higher education institution. It is also worth noting that Trzcianka cooperates with partner cities in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ukraine, fostering cultural and economic exchange.
