wikipedia
The Muszyna Municipality, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship within the Nowy Sącz County, is a place with a rich history and diverse tourist attractions. Its history dates back to 1209, when Muszyna was first mentioned in historical documents. In 1288, these lands came under the rule of the bishops of Kraków, and in 1364, Muszyna was granted town rights under the Magdeburg Law. In the 19th century, the healing properties of the local mineral waters were discovered, contributing to the development of the spa, which gained official spa status in 1930. Today, the Muszyna Municipality is known for its three spas: Muszyna, Złockie, and Żegiestów, which offer drinking cures and baths in mineral springs, particularly bicarbonate-sodium-magnesium waters. The region is also attractive for winter tourism, offering numerous ski lifts and cross-country trails. In the summer, it attracts hiking and cycling enthusiasts, as well as offering a wide range of water activities. In the Muszyna Municipality, visitors can admire numerous former Greek Catholic churches, located in villages such as Andrzejówka, Milik, and Powroźnik, with the oldest dating back to the 17th century. The region is abundant in nature conservation efforts, including reserves such as the Las Lipowy Obrożyska and Hajnik. The municipality is also known for its various religious communities, including six Catholic parishes and a Jehovah's Witnesses congregation. The characteristic, picturesque landscape of the Poprad Valley, surrounded by the Eastern Carpathians, makes Muszyna an ideal destination for both active recreation and relaxation in nature.
