wikipedia
The Church of St. Demetrius in Złockie, built between 1867 and 1872, is an example of Lemko wooden architecture and has served as a Roman Catholic parish church since 1951. The first church may have existed on this site as early as the late 16th century, and the current one, consecrated in 1873, stands out for its unique epigonal architecture designed by Kondracz. The temple is situated at an altitude of about 530 meters above sea level in the Beskid Sądecki range, surrounded by ancient linden trees and a 19th-century Roman and Greek Catholic cemetery enclosed by a wall. The structure is wooden, built using log construction, and designed on a cruciform plan. The nave, presbytery, and transept are covered with gable roofs, and at their intersection stands an octagonal tambour topped with a dome. The interior of the church features a preserved 19th-century Baroque-style iconostasis created by Antoni and Michał Bogdański, along with two side altars and an 18th-century crucifix. The polychrome in the presbytery dates back to 1876, and the ceiling painting "Ascension" is attributed to J. Bogdański. An interesting fact is the mention of the "Złockie icon" in a poem by Jerzy Harasymowicz. The church is part of the Wooden Architecture Trail in Lesser Poland, highlighting its cultural and historical significance.
