wikipedia
Myślibórz, known in German as Soldin, is a picturesque town located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, on the Myślibórz Lake District, with a rich history dating back to the 6th century BC. The first traces of settlement are associated with the Lusatian culture, and the town's further development is attributed to a Slavic settlement. In the 13th century, Myślibórz became the capital of the New March, gaining city rights between 1262 and 1270. The town experienced a period of prosperity in the 14th and 15th centuries when numerous representative buildings were constructed, including the 13th-century Gothic Collegiate Church of St. John the Baptist and the former Dominican church. Modern-day Myślibórz is an industrial center but also a tourist destination, with developed infrastructure for water sports such as kayaking and sailing. The town boasts many historical monuments, including 13th-century town fortifications and an 18th-century neoclassical town hall. Culturally, Myślibórz places great emphasis on a diversity of events and the activities of local schools, cultural centers, and associations. The town also has rich sports traditions, highlighted by figures such as Adam Hrycaniuk and Dariusz Jarecki. It is worth mentioning that after World War II, Myślibórz came under Polish administration, and its current name was approved in 1946. The town engages in international cooperation, maintaining partnerships with Kaunas, Neuhardenberg, and Soltau, which enriches its cultural reach.
