wikipedia
Nasielsk is a town in the Masovian Voivodeship, located about 50 km north of Warsaw, with a rich history dating back to medieval times. The first mentions of a stronghold in Nasielsk come from 1065, and its name appeared in documents from the 12th century in various forms, such as Nasilzco or Nosydlsk. The town was an important administrative and commercial center, and its development is associated with endowments to the monastery in Czerwińsk and the granting of town rights in the 14th century. In 1647, Nasielsk passed into the hands of the Wessel family, who remained its owners until the end of the 18th century. The town's architecture is distinguished by the neo-Gothic Church of St. Adalbert from the early 20th century and a 16th/17th-century rectory. Fires in the 19th century and the turmoil of war repeatedly destroyed the buildings, but the town was rebuilt each time, which testifies to its resilience. In the 20th century, Nasielsk became an industrial center, where, for example, a railway line connecting it to Gdańsk was built. It was rail transport that played a key role in its economic development. Culture in Nasielsk thrives thanks to the local cultural center, cinema, and public library. The town also has its own associations that engage the community in various initiatives. An interesting fact is that in 1938, the inhabitants of Nasielsk recorded a color film, one of the few in Poland before World War II. During the Nazi occupation, the town experienced terrible times; a significant part of the Jewish community was deported, and the loss of life reached 35% of the population. Today, Nasielsk is a place of cultural and sports activity, with numerous sports clubs engaging local youth and adults in various disciplines. The town is home to the football club "Żbik Nasielsk" and associations promoting sports and recreation.
