New Brzeźnica

Nowa Brzeźnica is a rural commune located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within Pajęczno County. Its administrative seat is the town of Nowa Brzeźnica. The commune has a rich history and was formerly part of the Dworszowice and Brzeźnica communes. Between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Częstochowa Voivodeship. In 2013, its population was 4,759 inhabitants within an area of 135.15 km², indicating a relatively high population density. The commune's land use consists of 52% agricultural land and 40% forested areas, highlighting its agricultural character. Nowa Brzeźnica also boasts interesting historical connections—it is the birthplace of notable Poles such as Jan Długosz, a chronicler and diplomat; Antoni Bolesław Dobrowolski, a geophysicist and explorer; and Juliusz Łuciuk, a composer. Also worth mentioning are Marcin Molski, a military officer and poet, and Franciszek Czarnomski, a soil scientist associated with the Jagiellonian University. An interesting fact is that in the village of Kruplin, scenes for the popular film "Sami Swoi" were shot in 1966, attracting film enthusiasts and tourists. The commune borders other municipalities such as Kruszyna, Ładzice, Miedźno, and Pajęczno, integrating it into the broader local community.
