Nowe Piekuty, formerly known as the Piekuty Commune, is a rural municipality in Poland located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the Wysokie Mazowieckie County. The seat of the municipality, Nowe Piekuty, is situated in the southern part of the commune. The area is traversed by the provincial road no. 659 and the electrified Warsaw–Białystok railway line, which facilitates transportation. The commune is surrounded by other municipalities and covers an area of 109.37 km², dominated by agricultural land (78%) and forests (16%). The municipality enjoys a moderate transitional climate, favorable for agriculture, with autumn frosts and rainfall concentrated mainly during the growing season. There are two drinking water intakes in the commune, and most of the forests are state-owned, reflecting a commitment to environmental protection. The area is rich in flora and fauna, with at least 217 protected animal species, including diverse birds, mammals, and plants, some of which are recognized as natural monuments, such as the small-leaved linden and the common ash. Notably, species like the European tree frog, grey partridge, and white stork can be found here. Demographically, the commune had a population of 4,060 in 2004, indicating a stable community. The village districts include Hodyszewo, Jabłoń-Dąbrowa, Kostry-Litwa, and Stokowisko, reflecting a diverse settlement structure. Historically, from 1975 to 1998, the commune was part of the Łomża Voivodeship, highlighting administrative changes in the region.
