Nieporęt is a rural municipality with its seat in Nieporęt, located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Legionowo County. The municipality was established on January 13, 1867, and initially belonged to the Warsaw County in the Warsaw Governorate. Key moments in the municipality's history include the incorporation of the Wieliszew municipality in the late 19th century and administrative transformations during the interwar period. After World War II, the municipality regained its borders, and in the 1970s, it was reestablished with new boundaries and village districts (sołectwa). In 1999, it was incorporated into Legionowo County. The municipality covers an area of 9,567 hectares, with forest land (45%) predominating over agricultural land (36%). The demographics of the municipality have changed over the years – in 2008, it had a population of 11,252, which increased to 14,369 by 2017. Nieporęt Municipality has a well-developed transportation network, including ZTM lines and local routes, facilitating access to Warsaw. Cultural life in the municipality revolves around the Municipal Cultural Center and the Public Library. Sports play an important role, with numerous football clubs and sports centers, including a Yacht Port that offers training in sailing and windsurfing. Notable village districts include Aleksandrów, Beniaminów, and Zegrze Południowe.
