wikipedia
The Nowa Ruda Mining Museum is a private institution located in a historic hard coal mine, established in 1992 on the initiative of M.Sc. Eng. Czesław Lis. The museum uses the Training Adit of the Mining School Complex as its base, with the approval of the city authorities. Currently, the facility is owned by Barbara Korbas, who runs the Tourist Services Enterprise "Coal Mine." The museum features exhibitions that present the history and organization of coal mining in Nowa Ruda, focusing on tools, miners' clothing, and models of buildings and machinery. An interesting part of the exhibition is the structure of the "Lech" shaft. The 700-meter-long Underground Tourist Route, arranged in the former "Piast" mining field, offers visitors the opportunity to learn about tunnel support technologies, coal mining methods, and mining equipment such as a mining combine or a cutting machine. Along the route, visitors can also see a fossilized araucaria and a miner's toilet – the so-called "beehive." The entire tour concludes with a ride on an electric train that can accommodate up to 36 people. The museum is open year-round, except for a few holidays, and admission is paid with specific entry times that vary depending on the season. This place is not only an important point on the tourist map of the region but also a significant part of Nowa Ruda's cultural heritage, showcasing the rich mining history of the area.
