Nowe Warpno is an urban-rural municipality located in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Police County. Its administrative seat is the town of Nowe Warpno, which boasts a rich history dating back to around 1350. The municipality is notable for having the smallest population among all municipalities in Poland, with only 1,667 residents as of the end of 2016. The region covers an area of 197.88 km², accounting for 29.7% of the Police County's total area, including the Szczecin Lagoon and lakes such as Jezioro Nowowarpieńskie. The municipality shares a border with Germany and, between 1975 and 1998, belonged to the Szczecin Voivodeship. It is part of the exceptionally picturesque Wkrzańska Forest region, where almost the entire area is covered by forests.
