wikipedia
Odrzechowa is a village located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in the Sanok County, on the Bukowskie Foothills, by the Czernisławka stream. The village was founded on June 30, 1419, when King Władysław Jagiełło granted it Środa Śląska rights. Odrzechowa was known as an important regional center and during the Reformation period, it supported the Polish Brethren, becoming one of the main centers of the Reformation in the region. Within the village, there is a historic Greek Catholic church dedicated to St. John the Baptist from 1813, which now serves as a Roman Catholic church, along with a bell tower, a church cemetery, and a monument to soldiers who died in World War I. Odrzechowa was not only a site of historical events but also witnessed numerous conflicts. During World War I, intense battles were fought here, and in 1945, the village suffered a tragic pacification by UPA units. An interesting fact is that the village has an experimental breeding center for Simmental cattle and a breeding farm for Hucul horses, organizing an annual breeding exhibition. Notable figures associated with this place include Władysław Morawski and his family, who had a significant impact on the social development of the region. Odrzechowa is located along the provincial road No. 889, which provides easy access to other towns, including the former border crossing to Slovakia. The history of the village is rich and full of transformations, making it an interesting place worth exploring.
